Freight company Einride and global supply chain solutions provider DP World announced a joint commitment to scale up operations to reduce 14,600 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year in support of the region’s overall climate goals.
From Jebel Ali Port, the busiest port in the world, the partnership will deploy the full range of Einride technology products, Einride Saga powering a fleet of heavy-duty electric vehicles, autonomous driving and charging infrastructure.
Einride, a freight company providing digital, electric and autonomous driving technologies, today announced a partnership with Dubai-based DP World, a world-renowned leader in supply chain solutions. The partnership will enable the electrification of interterminal container flows at Jebel Ali Port, improving efficiency and sustainability across the 10 ports. th busiest port in the world. It will be the largest deployment of electric automated freight traffic in the Middle East, operating 24/7 and reshaping the region’s transportation landscape.
Starting in late 2024, the partnership will rapidly scale up to support approximately 1,600 container movements per day. The expansion will be achieved through a fleet of 100 connected electric trucks and through the Einride Legend, Einride’s digital operating system designed to analyze, optimize and maximize the efficiency of electric and autonomous on-road freight operations. Pilot self-driving vehicles are scheduled to be deployed in 2025.
Once fully operational, the scheme will save up to 14,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) and 158 tonnes of nitrogen oxides (NOx) per year.
